Frederick Police, other agencies, make 27 arrests.
Frederick, Md (KM) 27 individuals were arrested and search and seizure warrants were served at 17 locations around the region by Frederick Police and other law enforcement agencies. Lieutenant Kirk Henneberry, Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Frederick Police Department, says it was part of an effort to take down a drug trafficking organization which was selling dangerous drugs to residents in Frederick city and the county. Authorities also say members of this organization were involved in fatal and non-fatal overdoses in Frederick.
Lieutenant Henneberry says it all began in February when two detectives started collecting information about this organization. “From mid-February up to early April really was the meat of the investigation. And then in the last week or so is when the dominoes started to fall where the officers had probable cause to execute a lot of search warrants in the area,” he says.

In a news release, Frederick Police say officers confiscated over 90 grams of fentanyl, 36 grams of methamphetamine, more than 125 grams of heroin, over one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana, 150 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, half ounce of crack cocaine, 12 grams of cocaine, more than four ounces of THC wax, 80 Suboxone (Buprenorphin) strips, Percocet pills, Xanax pills, Aderall pills, Oxycodone pills, and over $83,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the illegal drugs confiscated was assessed at over $40,000.
“Really, what we were hoping to do here is put some kind of a dent in the heroin/fentanyl sales and use here in Frederick city and around Frederick County,” says Lieutenant Henneberry. “Based on some of the quantities they got, hopefully, that;s a dent. But we’ll see.”

Lieutenant Henneberry acknowledges that once an operation like this is taken down, another one often moves in and takes over. “Over time, we’ll see the void, and these investigation will start up again until a DTO, Drug Trafficking Organization,” he says. “That’s what the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area group here in Frederick County is supposed to do. They try to take down an organization, and if a new one comes, up, they get to work again.”
Frederick Police say the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
In addition to the Frederick Police, other agencies which took part were the Frederick HIDTA group, consisting of the Frederick County SHeriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, Brunswick Police and Homeland Security Investigation. Other agencies included the Hagerstown Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, the Newport, Delaware, Police Department, the Homeland Security Delaware Office and the DEA Delaware Office.
