Total Closure Scheduled for Most of the Month of May Will Expedite Project.

(April 29, 2019) – Beginning May 1, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close and detour MD 77 (Foxville Road) between Pryor Road and Stottlemyer Road to replace 46 aging culverts. MD 77 will be closed and detoured from May 1 to May 23. The entire $2.1 million project will be complete summer 2020.

Motorists will be detoured using MD 77 to US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway) to MD 550 (Sabillasville Road) to Foxville Deerfield Road and back to MD 77.

In addition to replacing the culverts, crews will clean existing drain pipes and inlets. Crews will also pave and re-stripe the road.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Highway & Safety Services, Inc. of Gaithersburg, will use detour signs, barrels and cones to guide motorists through the work zone. Approximately 3,900 vehicles use this section of Foxville Road each day, so motorists are encouraged to allow extra commuting time during the project.
