Frederick Man Lands Himself In Jail After Admitting to Assaulting His Fiance

FREDERICK, MD.  (LG)   A Frederick man is on his way to the big house after he was sentenced Tuesday, in Frederick County Circuit Court, by Judge Theresa Adams.   State’s Attorney Charlie Smith said 35 year old Melvin Alfaro pled guilty to first degree assault.  “It was for, basically, beating his fiance very violently,” Smith said.

The incident happened June 24, 2018, in the 1800 block of Pinecroft Court.

“They encountered the victim.  She had significant injuries to her face and body.  Alfaro, who was her fiance’, was identified as her attacker. Basically what he said was that the victim disrespected him.  So, he beats her violently, and for that, most importantly, he is going to do 7 years in the Division of Corrections,” continued Smith.

Alfaro was sentenced to 25 years with all but 7 years suspended.  He will be on 5 years of supervised probation when he gets out.
