Clear Spring Man Charged With Assault, Drug Offenses Following Traffic Stop In Frederick

Sheriff’s Deputies say he put up a struggle before being taken into custody.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Clear Spring man was arrested in Frederick County late Monday night following a traffic stop. But Sheriff’s Deputies had to struggle to get him into custody.

Johnathan Konrad Shevock, 28, is charged with 2nd-degree assault–aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer; wearing, carrying and transporting a handgun; possession with intent to distribute marijuana; possession of controlled paraphernalia; and having a vehicle without inadequate rear light registration illumination. .

The Sheriff’s Office says Shevock was pulled over along Route 15 near Motter Avenue just before 11:00 PM for an inoperable tag light. Authorities say he became nervous and couldn’t provide deputies information about his destination. A police canine was called to the scene.

Shevock refused to get out of his car. A struggle ensued as deputies tried to remove him from his vehicle. At one time, authorities say Shevock released the parking brake on his car and began accelerating, trying to drive. But his vehicle struck a Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle which was parked in front to prevent Shevock’s car from leaving.

And one time, deputies say Shevock was reaching for his waistband, where he had a loaded handgun, a Glock nine-millimeter with a loaded magazine. A deputy got inside the vehicle, and Shevock was eventually restrained.

A search of his vehicle netted a second fully loaded handgun, one large glass containing about 30 grams of marijuana; one plastic bag containing suspected psilocybin mushrooms; One suspected  THC wax Dab; 11 white powdered gel caps with a suspected heroin/fentanyl mix; one digital scale; one metal spoon with drug residue; one THC pen; two cell phones, and $1,744 in cash.

Shevock was taken to the Adult Detention Center for processing.
