Powerful Storm Causes Damage In Frederick County On Thurs.

Trees fall on two homes in the Ijamsville area.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A powerful storm with strong winds came through the region on Thursday afternoon, leaving behind some damage.

In Frederick County, a tree came down on a house at 4431 Prices Distillery Road in the Ijamsville area. There was a woman inside the home, but she was not injured. A tree also came down on a house at 5161 Mussetter Road, but scanner reports say no one was home at the time.

Videos of flooding in downtown Frederick were posted on social media. It showed the water up to sidewalks, but vehicles were able to travel through.

Pictures were also posted of damage done to individualĀ  buildings in Frederick County.

There were numerous reports of wires down, or trees falling on the wires, bringing them down into the streets. At one time, Potomac Edison on its website reported more than 4,000 customers without power during part of the afternoon.

A tornado warning was issued for Frederick County, but it was canceled before it was set to expire at 3:00 PM.

The Associated Press reported trees coming down on Thursday in a path across Md. Route 32 southeast of Ellicott City and northwest of Columbia in Howard County.

There was heavy rainĀ  Thursday evening, but it didn’t cause any flooding or damage.
