Tornado Confirmed In Frederick County

EF-0 tornado touched down in Ijamsville

Ijamsville, Md. – The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in both Frederick and Howard Counties on Thursday afternoon.

Meteorologists surveyed the damage on Friday, and reported an EF-0 tornado touched down in Ijamsville between 2:48 p.m. to 2:59 p.m. The tornado was on the ground for 6.5 miles and had winds of 85 mph. The tornado uprooted trees along it’s path.

For the second time in a week, a tornado caused damage in Howard County. The weather service said an EF-1 tornado touched down at 3:22 p.m. near Glenelg, with winds of 100 mph. The tornado was on the ground for 4.5 miles.

On May 23, a tornado touched down in Clarksville with an estimated maximum wind speed of 95 mph.
