Frederick Barrack Participates in Border to Border Enforcement

The operation begins Friday, June 7, 2019.

(FREDERICK, MD) The Maryland State Police, Frederick Barrack, will be participating in an eastern seaboard, special enforcement effort this weekend called, “Border to Border”. This operation consists of all State Police agencies along US 15 and US 17 from New York to Florida. Maryland State Troopers, including members of the Motorcycle unit, will be highly visible along the US 15 corridor as they conduct traffic and criminal enforcement.

Special drug sniffing K9s will be assisting Troopers as they seek to reduce drug transports, especially those transports involving heroin. The State Police’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will also be conducting inspections to ensure commercial truck safety.

This operation intends to remind citizens of the importance of safe driving practices in an effort reduce fatalities and serious crashes as traffic volumes increase during the summer months.

In conjunction with the “Border to Border” patrol, the Maryland State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint along US-15 in Frederick County. The checkpoint will operate under the guidelines of the “Checkpoint Strikeforce” initiative.  The goal is to educate drivers of the dangers associated with drinking and driving.  Specific locations are based on information received relating to alcohol related crashes and impaired driver arrests.
