New Brunswick High School To Be Built

Students, parents, and officials packed a board of education meeting to voice support for new school

Frederick, Md. (DG) – The Frederick County School Board voted on Wednesday for a brand new Brunswick High School.

A feasibility study that started in January looked at several different scenarios.

Scenarios One and Two involved a modernization of the existing school building with potential future additions that would address capacity issues if they arise.

Scenario Four called for demolishing the current school and building a brand-new high school. Brunswick High students, parents, and city officials supported Scenario Four.

Many people showed up to speak at the school board’s meeting in support of building a new Brunswick High School, citing concerns over the age of the building and possible asbestos that could be uncovered during renovations.

The board voted five votes to two in favor of the demolition and reconstruction of Brunswick High School.
