Additional Maryland State Troopers will be deployed this week to handle road violations and keep traffic flowing.
Frederick, MD – Heavy enforcement will be underway this week as State Troopers accross Maryland will be increasing their patrols to adequately cover an expected increase in traffic and violations during the 4th of July 4-day weekend.
Maryland State Police Spokesperson Brenda Carl said the increased patrols started Tuesday and will continue through Sunday July 7th.
“We’re expecting a lot of extra traffic in the days leading up to the 4th of July and after the 4th of July,” Carl said. “So we’re going to have additional Maryland State Troopers on the road and across the state.”
All Maryland State Police barracks will be patrolling, looking out for impaired driving, speeding, agrressive driving. and other violations that could be increased by July 4th traffic.
Carl said that drivers should check traffic conditions before they take their trips, and they are encouraged to report any unsafe driving by calling 511.
“We want to make sure people get to where they’re going on time and that they have a plan in place” Carl said. “Enjoy the 4th of July but make sure you’re safe while doing it.”
