Va. Woman Charged As Accessory In Frederick Murder

She was denied bail  at a court hearing on Wednesday.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) An Alexandria, Va. woman has been charged as an accessory after the fact in a 1st-degree murder in Frederick in May. Samantha Lynn Guthrie, 30, was denied bond on Wednesday at a bail review hearing in Frederick County Circuit Court.

Police say Guthrie did not render aid when Ryan David Bretzfelder, 43, of Frederick,  assaulted Devon Jamal Wallace, 24, at a  home on Willcox Court.;  and she also assisted him in taking Wallace’s body to Jefferson County, West Virginia,  where it was dumped in a field.

Guthrie is also charged with neglect of a minor child. Authorities say her daughter was present when Wallace was being murdered, and she was brought along when Guthrie assisted Bretzfelder in disposing of the victim’s body.

Frederick Police say Wallace’s body was found on May 2nd in West Virginia. Bretzfelder was arrested on May 13th. Guthrie was indicted on June 14th for her role in the homicide. She was arrested on Tuesday, July 2nd.

Bretzfelder admitted to police that he assaulted Wallace . He told investigators a fight occurred after Wallace assaulted Guthrie, even going so far as strangling her, authorities say. Bretzfelder also admitted to striking Wallace several times with a heavy rock.
