National Night Out to Feature Police Demonstrations and Community Building

Frederick Police are hosting demonstrations and activities in Frederick Parks for community engagement and fun.

Frederick, MD – The Frederick Police Department is hosting events at parks across Frederick County as part of a national community building program focused on strengthening relationships between neighbors and law enforcement.

National Night Out was created in 1984 with the purpose of getting people out of their house for a night to meet their neighbors and local law enforcement in a safe and fun environment. The event features safety information, K-9 demonstrations, food, giveaways, children activities, and more.

“People come out of their homes, turn their porch lights on, and get to know their neighbors,” Frederick Police Department outreach coordinator Michelle Bowman said. “It’s a very family friendly event, so we would love for everyone to come out and spend the night with us.

National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6th, and will run 6-9pm at the following locations:

-Carrollton Park, 455 Center St.
-Lucas Village Community, 155 Pennsylvania Ave
-Hill Street Park, 100 Hill St
-Mullinix Park, 16 S. Bentz St.
