Suspect Arrested Following Vehicle & Foot Chase

Authorities say the car he was driving which was  reported stolen.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Walkersville man was arrested following a vehicle and foot chase in Frederick Tuesday morning. Ja’Von Antoine Bey, 18, was taken into custody in the 8500 block of Discovery Boulevard. A Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized Bey because his clothes and shoes were wet, muddy, ripped and some places, and he was sweating heavily. Authorities also say Bey had some outstanding warrants.

The Sheriff’s Office says It all started when a deputy traveling along Schifferstadt Boulevard at around 7:40 AM noticed a Infiniti   sedan speeding north along East Church Street, stopping abruptly at the light. The deputy followed the vehicle as it made a left turn on to Schifferstadt Boulevard. It was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Frederick city.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The Infiniti made a abrupt right turn on Mohican Drive, and made an abrupt stop. Then it made an abrupt right turn on to Mohican Court, where it stopped. The driver and the passenger got out and fled on foot behind the residence where they stopped.

The Sheriff’s Office, Frederick Police and the State Police set up a perimeter, and conducted a search. Both individuals were seen in the wooded area near the water treatment plant. They were seen going into and out of the Monocacy River, and into the wooded area. One of the suspects was apprehended near the Frederick Brick Works along Monocacy Boulevard. The second person had not been located yet.

Bey was apprehended soon afterward.

He was taken to the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center where he was questioned, and admitted to driving the vehicle and fleeing on foot, deputies say..

Bey was transported to the Adult Detention Center for processing.
