Bicyclist Participating in ‘The Fire Fighter 50’ Killed in Accident

The accident happened at the intersection of Route 194 and Good Intent Road.

Frederick, Md. (DG) – A bicyclist from Rockville lost their life in an accident Sunday morning in Frederick County.

Maryland State Police were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. to a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 194 at Good Intent Road.

The accident involved a bicycle which was traveling on Good Intent Road, through the intersection of Route 194, and a Chevrolet Malibu which was traveling south on Route 194.

According to a press release, when the bicycle crossed Route 194, it collided with the Chevrolet.

The operator of the bicycle sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The bicyclist was identified as 59-year-old Diane Deshields.

Deshields was participating in a cycling event called “The Fire Fighter 50.” The occupants in the Chevrolet were not injured.
