Homeowner Injured During House Fire

The Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire was accidental.

 

Westminster, Md. (KM) A homeowner was treated at the scene for injuries after his house caught fire  in Carroll County Wednesday afternoon.

About 40 fire fighters were dispatched to a single family home at 3609 Oxwed Court in Westminster shortly after 4:00 PM, and spent close to an hour bringing the flames under control.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says damage to the structure is $100,000, and $25,000 to the contents..

Investigators say the fire originated in the basement of the home..

The cause is being labeled accidental due to the unintentional discharge of a firearm.
