Fire At Hotel Ruled Accidental

There were no injuries.

Hagerstown, Md (KM) A fire at a hotel in Hagerstown Monday afternoon caused  $7,500 damage to the structure and $2,500 damage  to the contents.

56 fire fighters responded to the Microtel Suites in the 13,726 Oliver Drive at around 2:45 PM, and spent 15-minutes bringing the flames under control. No one was injured.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire was accidental due to a malfunctioning bathroom exhaust fan.

Investigators say the fire alarm at the hotel did not activate because it has been placed out of service. They also say the sprinkler system didn’t activate due to the fire located above the system.
