Frederick County Teacher Named Finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year

Mike Franklin of Catoctin High School is one of seven finalists.

Frederick, MD – A panel of judges selected seven finalists for the 2019-2020 Maryland Teacher of the Year, one of them being Mike Franklin from Catoctin High School.

Franklin is a physical education teacher and baseball coach at Catoctin High and has been teaching at Frederick County Public Schools for 23 years.

Franklin was named Frederick County’s Teacher of the Year in April, and has also received other honors including 2014 Maryland Outstanding PE Teacher, 2016 Hood College Charles E. Tressler Distinguished Teacher Award and 2018 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coach of the Year.

Teacher of the Year will be announced October 25 at a gala reception and dinner in Baltimore.
