Germantown Man Arrested For Homicide In His Home

The victim’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

 

 

Germantown, Md (KM) Montgomery County Police have charged a suspect in connection with a homicide Monday night in Germantown. Lawrence Edward Sakkestad, 34, is charged with first-degree murder. He was taken into custody inside of his home.

Shortly before 9:00 PM, officers were dispatched to a home in the 20000 block of Dunstable Circle for a report of an assault. While at the residence, authorities say it appeared Sakkestad was involved in the assault. They searched the home for victims of the assault, and found a deceased female.

While conducting an investigation, police say Sakkestad made statements indicating his involvement in the homicide. He was then placed under arrest.

The body of the victim was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Police say her name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

Authorities say this is an active investigation, and anyone with information regarding this homicide is asked to call the Major Crime Division at 240-773-5070.
