Tuscarora Parents Receive Message About Potential Threats Posted On Social Media

The school notified police about potential social media threats

Frederick, Md. – This is the message sent in an email on Sunday at 8:13 PM

Earlier today the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a potential threat posted on social media. We cooperated with our law enforcement partners in the investigation of this matter. The Sheriff’s Office determined that there is no credible threat to our school.

Parents, please use this opportunity to remind your child that we take any potential threat to school safety, even rumors, offhand comments, and jokes, extremely seriously. The safety of our school is our most important responsibility.

Please remind your child to report concerns about safety to a trusted adult at school. As always, students or parents with concerns about safety should contact any of our administrators or a school counselor. FCPS recommends if you See Something, Say Something, and when it comes to social media, please Report It, Don’t Repost It.

We investigate and follow up on every concern.

Open communication between families, students, staff, and administrators ensures that THS continues to be a safe and productive place for learning.
