Four-Vehicle Crash Tuesday Closes Area Of Rt. 40 In Washington County

Three people were taken to area hospitals.

 

Hagerstown, Md (KM) Three people were transported to area hospitals following a four-vehicle crash South of Hagerstown Tuesday morning.

State Police in Washington County responded to the scene at around 7:39 AM. They say Joshua Kent Myers, 19, of Keedysville was driving a GMC truck west along Route 40 near Cool Hollow Road. He came up behind a Ford F-150 operated by Bonnie Rose Sower, 35, of Smithsburg. She wanted to make a left hand turn on to Cool Hollow Road. But troopers say Myers was not paying attention to his driving and his vehicle struck the rear of the F-150. The Ford truck entered the westbound lane of Route 40, striking a Hyundai Tuscon operated by Tara Renee Allison, 37, of Berkeley Springs, WV. . The F-150 and the Tuscon spun counterclockwise, striking a Hyundai Kona driven by JodiĀ  Lynn Boersig, 58, of Hagerstown. .

Sowers and Boersig were taken to Meritus Medical Center while Allison was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Myers was not transported to the hospital.

State Police say that area of Route 40 was closed for more than two hours for an investigation..
