Arrest Made In Sykesville Shooting

Suspect was apprehended in Baltimore.

 

Sykesville, Md (KM) An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in July on Progress Way in Sykesville. Devontea Walker, 19, who has a Baltimore address, is charged with attempted 1st-degree murder, 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, and a firearms offense.

The shooting on July 10th at the Daltile Home Furnishings Store left an employee with gunshot wounds. He was medivaced to Shock Trauma.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says about 40 shell casings were  found at the scene of the shooting and submitted processing. Detectives say the weapon was recovered in Baltimore, and was linked to Walker. Investigators  also used forensic evidence to identify Walker as the  suspect. .

He was arrested in Baltimore with the assistance of Baltimore City Police, and was taken to the Carroll County Detention Center. A bail review hearing for Walker is scheduled for Thursday, October 3rd.

The investigation into this incident is continuing, the Sheriff’s Office say.
