County Executive & Mayor Issue Statement Before Rallies on Sunday

They want everyone to be treated with respect

Frederick, Md. (DG) – Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner and Frederick City Mayor Michael O’Connor has issued a joint statement before the two planned rallies on Sunday, October 6.

Frederick is a caring and welcoming community. We share a rich history and long-standing values of fairness, justice, truth, hard work and opportunity. We believe all people should be treated with dignity and respect.

Most importantly, we stand together as Americans. Our strong nation endures because our founding fathers recognized the importance of allowing disparate views. We support all people’s right to free speech and the right to assemble peacefully.

As people gather for rallies on Sunday, October 6th, we ask all our residents and visitors to be respectful, peaceful and civil toward each other. Let’s be a model for productive public discourse based on facts and truth, kindness and goodwill.
