Suspect Arrested For Armed Robbery In Westminster

He was taken into custody at his home in Hagerstown.

 

Westminster, Md (KM) A suspect in an armed robbery in Carroll County was arrested Friday morning in Washington County. State Police say Daniel Merrigan,29, of Hagerstown was taken into custody at his home without incident. He is charged with armed robbery, robbery, 2nd-degree assault and theft in connection with a stick-up on August 3rd at a store in the 3100 block of Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster.

Investigators say the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from behind the counter. After the cashier complied, the suspect fled on foot behind the store.

State Police say a news release sent out later that day resulted in several citizens identifying the suspect, and providing information to authorities.

Merrigan was also indicted by the Carroll County Grand Jury on Friday.
