State Police Investigating Deadly Howard County Crash

One person died and another was injured.

Woodbine, MD – A crash on Friday that killed one and injured another in Howard County is under investigation by Maryland State police.

Troopers from the Waterloo Barrack shortly after midnight responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the area of eastbound Interstate 70 at Marriottsville Road in Woodbine.

According to police, a male driving a Lincoln MKZ was traveling east on I-70 when he crashed into a large tree that had fallen into the road.

The Lincoln rotated clockwise and was then struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The driver of the Tahoe was identified as 51-year-old Mark McCluskey of Baltimore and was transported to Howard County General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the Lincoln has not been identified and was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-70 East was closed for about four hours in the area of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
