Fire Fighters Put Out Attic Fire On Sunday

Damage is estimated at $3,000.

 

Emmitsburg, Md (KM) Damage from a house fire near Emmitsburg on Sunday is estimated at $3,000. .

Officials with the Vigilant Hose Company say fire fighters responded shortly after 10:00 AM to the 11200 block SImmons Road east of Emmitsburg.

The arriving units reported nothing evident and began an investigation. Personnel entered the attic where they found smoke, but no fire. They learned that the electrical wiring caused the insulation to smolder. Crews removed the insulation from the affected areas.

The Vigilant Hose Company says more than 20 volunteers responded to the scene. This is also the second time in a week that a fire call involved all of the apparatus at the Vigilant Hose Company fire hall, leaving the facility empty.. Guardian Hose Company in Thurmont filled in for the Vigilant Hose Company at that time.
