Silicone Injection Death

New Yorker gets jail for silicone death of Maryland woman

NEW YORK (AP) – A New Yorker who administered a botched silicone injection that killed a Maryland woman has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Queens Acting District Attorney John M. Ryan said Thursday that the sentence for Donna Francis was the maximum allowed under an extradition agreement.

Francis had fled to London rather than face charges in the May 2015 death of Kelly Mayhew. She was eventually brought back and pleaded guilty in October to criminally negligent homicide.

Mayhew had traveled with her mother from Suitland, Maryland for a $1,600 buttocks augmentation procedure.

Francis, who had no medical license, injected Mayhew with silicone gel she’d bought online.

Ryan called the defendant “an incompetent quack” who fled as the victim lay dying. Mayhew’s mother immediately called 911 but she could not be saved.
