Mike Spurrier was escorted from his office by three city officials
Frederick, Md. (DG) – In a surprising move on Wednesday afternoon, the Director of the Frederick Community Action Agency Mike Spurrier was escorted from his office by heavy security.
Dr. Robert Mannis, who is the Chairman of the Board of the Community Action Agency, was not happy with the removal process.
“I think one that’s over kill, I think it’s enormous disrespect, and I think it leaves the current administration with a black eye,” Mannis said.
Frederick City’s Human Resources Director, Karen Paulson, Frederick City’s Manager of Risk, Joe Lindstrom, and Capt. Dwight Sommers with Frederick Police ushered Spurrier out of the building.
“I am very upset about the treatment of Mike,” Mannis said. “He has done 30 years of wonderful work for people that don’t have a very loud voice in politics or in government.”
On October 16th city officials decided to let Spurrier go and gave him 28-days to wrap up his affairs at the agency. The Mayor and Board of Alderman will now choose the next director.
Spurrier had been Director of the Community Action Agency since 1988.
