Teenager Shot In Home Invasion

One suspect charged with attempted 1st-degree murder.

TANEYTOWN, Md. (AP) – Maryland State Police says a man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after a teenager was shot and wounded.

A news release says other charges have been filed against 31-year-old Charles O. Caradine of Taneytown, including home invasion and multiple counts of first- and second-degree assault. A bond hearing for Caradine was scheduled for Tuesday, and it wasn’t known if he has an attorney.

Investigating troopers say evidence shows Caradine was one of two armed suspects who forced their way into an apartment in Taneytown about 2 a.m. Tuesday, searching for a 16-year-old who lived there. They say the teenager was shot during a struggle between the suspects and the victim, who police said was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say they are searching for a second suspect.
