It’s part of a major road project in that area, says SHA.
Frederick, Md (KM) There will be a major traffic shift at the Interstate 270/ Route 85 interchange this week. The Maryland State Highway Administration says beginning on Wednesday, November 20th at 9 PM, northbound traffic along I-270 will shifted to the newly constructed bridge over Route 85. Spokesman Charlie Gischlar says that shift will be completed by 5:00 AM on Thursday, November 21st at 5 AM
“The traffic shift is part of the big $87-million widening of Maryland 85 and the replacement of the two, I-270 bridges at that interchange,” says Gischlar.
He also says motorists traveling in that area during the overnight hours could experience some delays. But SHA says it will set up temporary signs, barrels and electronic message boards to guide drivers.
More than 115,000 motorists travel that area every day, Gischlar says.
