Cumberland Fire Ruled Arson

Damage is estimated at more than $100,000.

 

 

Cumberland, Md. (KM) The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined arson to be the cause of a house fire in Cumberland on Thursday morning.

At around 11:45 AM, personnel were dispatched to 11808 Messick Road for a single-family rancher home on fire. It took them 15-minutes to bring the flames under control.

A passerby was injured trying to get into the home to determine if anyone was inside. That person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Damage is estimated at   $100,000 to the structure, and $50,000 to the contents. .

The fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 301-766-3888.
