Frederick, Md. (DG) – An inmate arrested over the summer on charges of sex abuse and possession of child pornography, was found dead in his cell at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on Monday morning.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is reporting 38-year-old John Marshall Hibbert of Knoxville was found unresponsive in his cell at around 5:20 AM on December 2 by correctional officers. CPR was administered but efforts to revive Hibbert were unsuccessful.

Investigators say his death was a suicide by means of material from a t-shirt, which was not visible during a prior cell check.

Hibbert’s body was taken to the Chief Office of the Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

He was arrested in July of 2019 and was awaiting trial and charges of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and sex abuse of a minor.
