12 Indictments Returned By Frederick County Grand Jury

One was against a Boonsboro man charged with child pornography offenses.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Twelve indictments were returned on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury. The panel charged James Roger Maynard Jr, 52, of Boonsboro with child pornography offenses. State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says Frederick Police Detectives found out that Maynard was having sexually explicit conversations with a 14-year-old girl in foster care. “He began to engage in sexual conversation, directed the victim to take a lot of untoward photographs, obviously, of herself in sexual positions and sexual acts,” he says. “Very serious case.”   The incidents occurred between November 27th and November 30th, 2019.

Ritchie Lee Kline, 50, of Frederick, was charged by the Grand Jury with 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, robbery, reckless endangerment and being intoxicated to endanger. Smith says this case involved a domestic incident which took place on November 19th. “He came at his girlfriend with a knife. He was demanding money for alcohol. The victim was very visibly upset when officers arrived,” he said.

Another suspect in a domestic violence case was also indicted by the Grand Jury. Hugh Mercer Alexander III, 38,  is charged with 1st-degree assault, two counts of 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, an animal cruelty count, resisting, interfering with an arrest and disorderly conduct for an incident which occurred on November 25th, 2019. “That was a domestic again. Started out that way between a brother and sister,” says Smith. “He was drunk. He wound up strangling her in a choke-hold,; turned on the dog and began to strangle the dog, slamming it to the ground. He eventually got a knife, and pointed it at her while he was on top of her.”

The Grand Jury also handled a number of drug cases, including an indictment against Charles Emory Barr, 51, of Winchester, Virginia. He’s charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine, operating a motor vehicle without being restrained by a seatbelt and operating a motor vehicle while using a handheld device. “This is a traffic stop case where they found 25 capsules of heroin, found some crack as well,” says Smith. “Barbara Mintz, also of Virginia, was the co-defendant in that traffic stop so she was charged with similar offenses.”

Mintz, 56, of Winchester, is charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine. The traffic stop occurred on October 25th.

Other indictments returned on Friday include:

* David Alexis Zayla, 22, of Silver Spring, Md, whose charged with possession of  ten grams or more of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute ten grams or more of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute  ten grams or more of marijuana on school property; two counts of the use of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime; possession of a rifle or shotgun after being convicted of a qualifying crime; and illegal possession of ammunition for an incident which occurred on November 19th, 2019.

* Timothy Edward Fox, 51, of Thurmont for 12 counts of possession of a firearm for a drug trafficking crime; illegal possession of ammunition; possession of an assault weapon; illegal possession of a regulated firearm; possession of a firearm with a felony conviction; 11 counts of possession of shotgun after being convicted of a disqualifying crime; 11 counts of possession of a rifle or shotgun with a felony conviction; possession of ten grams or more of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute ten grams or more of marijuana. for an incident which occurred on July 9th, 2019.

* Christian Gracia-Vega, 21, of Hagerstown, Md for possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute ten grams or more of marijuana, for an incident which occurred on November 21st, 2019.

* Sabastian K. Sasu, 19, of Frederick, Md. for possession with intent to distribute, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute ten grams or more of marijuana for an incident which occurred on November 21st, 2019.

* Jamarie Ankile Parker, 21, of Frederick, Md for possession with intent to distribute and possession of ten grams or more of marijuana; and theft between $100 to $1500 for an incident which occurred on October 14th, 2019.

* Sayande L. Jenkins, 43, of Frederick, Md for possession and possession with intent to distribute morphine for an incident which occurred on November 4th, 2019

* Benjamin Hilton Nicholson, 30, of Brunswick, Md for 1st-degree burglary, 4th-degree burglary, theft, theft between $100 and $1500; malicious destruction of property less than $1,000, and 4th-degree burglary of a dwelling for an incidents which occurred between October 31st and November 3rd, 2019.

These indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled.
