Police Investigating Woman Found Dead In Car On I-70  

An infant was found in the back seat

Hagerstown, Md (DG) – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a Pennsylvania woman found unresponsive Saturday inside of a car along Interstate 70 in Washington County.

At around 2:30 p.m. an employee with the Maryland State Highway Administration stopped to check on a silver Dodge Dart along the westbound off-ramp of I-70 onto I-81.

A woman was found dead inside and an infant was found in a safety seat in the back seat of the car.

The woman was identified as 26-year-old Kortnee Ernde of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. Her body was taken the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The infant was taken to Meritus Medical Center.

Police are asking anyone that may have seen the car traveling in the area of westbound Interstate 70 and Interstate 81 at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday to call 301-766-3800.
