Crash Knocks Down Utility Pole, Closes Rt. 65

Driver charged with suspicion of DUI.

 

 

Hagerstown, Md (KM) There were no injuries from a one-vehicle crash south of Hagerstown Tuesday morning.

State Police say at around 11:30 AM, a Plymouth van traveled off the roadway along Sharpsburg Pike and Tilghmanton Road, and struck a utility pole, knocking it down along with the power lines, blocking both directions of Sharpsburg Pike. The vehicle caught fire.

The operator of the Plymouth identified as Jason Allen Moats was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Utility crews were dispatched to the scene to repair the damage and remove the power lines.
