Suspicious Package Causes Evacuation At Carroll County Office Building

No injuries or illnesses reported.

 

Westminster, Md (KM) Fire and rescue personnel along with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Westminster Police, responded to the Carroll County Office Building, 225 North Center Street, late Monday morning for a suspicious package.

The Sheriff’s Office says the parcel contained an unknown substance which had been opened in the Commissioners’ Office. The building was evacuated.

Hazardous Materials crews examined the package, and determine the substance was not harmful. It was taken to a lab for additional testing.

The area was deemed safe, and county employees were allowed to go back inside the building.

The Sheriff’s Office says there are no reported injuries and illnesses at this time.
