Cause Determined As Accidental For Apartment Fire In Frederick

Investigators say it was improperly discarded smoking materials.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM)  The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office has ruled the apartment fire on Tuesday, March 10th as accidental.  Investigators  say it due to improperly discarded smoking materials.

The fire in the early morning hours at an apartment building on Mercantile Drive destroyed three apartment units, and damaged 12, and affected another 15 apartments. About 35 people were displaced.

Fire fighters  were dispatched at around 12:57 AM, and the fire quickly went to two alarms.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says damage from the fire is in excess of a quarter million dollars.
