Shoppers At Safeway Intentionally Coughed On

Police are looking for the suspects who coughed and sneezed on others at the grocery store


Mount Airy, Md. (DG) – Mount Airy Police are searching for a group of people who allegedly intentionally coughed and sneezed on others at the Safeway on Monday evening.

Police report the incident happened between 7 PM and 8 PM at the store located in the Mount Airy Shopping Center off of Ridgeville Boulevard. Police were told about the incident several hours after it happened.

The group was seen intentionally coughing and sneezing on other shoppers who were following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for social distancing.

Police are trying to identify the suspects and they advise anyone who fears they may now have the virus to call their doctor.

Safeway is one of several grocery stores implementing new policies, including limiting the number of customers allowed in stores during the coronavirus crisis.
