Face Coverings Required  When Entering Stores In Frederick County Starting On Thursday

The Health Officer says they help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Frederick, Md (KM) Beginning on Thursday, April 16th,  all Frederick County residents entering an essential business will be required to wear face coverings. The order from Health Officer Doctor Barbara Brookmyer also requires retail employees to wear face coverings, and establish limits on the number of customers in a facility at any given time, as well as the number of individuals outside a store lining up to get inside..

“We are working on many  fronts to slow the spread of COVID-19, says Dr. Brookmyer, in a statement. “Face coverings are one more way to help protect each other. When people wear a cloth face covering when working or shopping in public, they’re e helping to contain droplets they may be breathing out, which reduces the risk for the people around them. Additionally, these social distancing measures will help our community maintain the recommended space between individuals, reducing everyone’s risk.”

The Health Department says essential retail businesses are required to provide employees with access to clean restrooms stocked with soap and sanitizer. Their employees must also be allowed to wash their hands at least every 30-minutes.

Also, the Health Department says, employers must provide face masks for their employees, or make provisions for them to obtain these coverings The agency says essential retail businesses must also continue to comply with existing local and state sanitation laws and requirements.
