Fourth Person Arrested For The Murder Of A Taneytown Man

The victim’s body was found in West Virginia last month.

 

 

Kearneysville, WV (KM) The Jefferson County, West Virginia Sheriff’s Office says a fourth person has been arrested for the murder of Taneytown man. Emily Rose Day of Westminster was taken into on Friday by Maryland State Police. She’s charged with being an accessory before and after the fact in connection with the slaying of Jonathan Riddle.

Earlier this month, three Carroll County men were arrested in connection with the homicide. . David Ray Sanford and Monroe Merrill of Westminster, and John Black of Taneytown, are charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping .

Riddle’s body was found on fire in a wooded area near Ward Clipp Road and Smith Road on March 18th. . An autopsy concluded Riddle died from a stab wound and blunt force trauma.

The Sheriff’s Office says investigators learned Riddle was meeting a woman at Sanford’s apartment on March 17th. A cooperative informant providing information to authorities say Riddle was stabbed several times in Sanford’s apartment. Several people were there, and they took the victim’s body to West Virginia.

“This investigation is not over,” says Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty, in a statement.. “The Sheriff’s Office in coordination with other law enforcement agencies continues to follow leads in this case.”
