Maryland State Board of Education denied a request to waive 12 days from the end of the school year because of coronavirus closures
Frederick, Md. (DG) – The last day for Frederick County Public Schools will be June 17, 2020.
The school system reported Wednesday the Maryland State Board of Education denied their request to waive 12 days from the end of the school year because of closures related to COVID-19.
The waiver would have allowed Frederick County Public Schools to end school year early, and not make up the two weeks of instruction that were missed in March after schools shut down due to the pandemic.
If there were no snow days, the 2019-2020 school year would have ended on June 10, 2020.
FCPS will begin the 2020-2021 school year on August 31, 2020.
