Mayor Announces ‘Pop-Up’ Dining Program In Frederick

New dining option was developed to help restaurants impacted by the pandemic

Frederick, Md. (DG) – Frederick City is announcing an effort to expand outdoor dining.

Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor announced on Thursday they received 1500 responses to a survey outlining possible options for expanded outdoor dining last week.

Using the feedback, the city developed five options businesses can choose from to provide outdoor dining. They are downtown sidewalks, city parks, alleys, lots in parklets, street closures, and on private property.

On weekends the city will close three blocks along North Market Street from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. to allow businesses to put up tables and serve food.

The street closure for outdoor dining is expected to start on June 12 and continue through the end of October.

A new permit portal is open for restaurants to apply.
