Some downtown streets are expected to be closed.
Frederick, Md (KM) A large crowd of people have gathered Friday afternoon in downtown Frederick for a protest. They’re expressing their support for George Floyd, whose death at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officer which was showcased on social media, has generated outrage.
Protesters have gathered at Mullinix Park. The march is expected to end at Baker Park. . Organizers and the city say they are working to make this a peaceful protest, knowing that similar demonstrations in other cities have turned violent.
The City is expected to close some downtown streets, including Market, West All Saints and Second Streets.. Other road closures may take place.
All parking garages in Frederick are open, and restrooms and handwashing stations are available.
The County Health Department is urging everyone to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing face coverings, and practicing social distancing.
