COVID-19 Statistics Reported Differently In Frederick County

The Health Dept says they’re based on Md. Dept. of Health numbers.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is once again reporting the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths. But the agency says these statistics come from the Maryland Health Department which only reports coronavirus deaths if the cause of death has been ruled as COVID-19.    So the local numbers may be a little lower than in the past.

Currently, there are 2,178 coronavirus  cases in Frederick County as of Wednesday., an increase of 26 since Tuesday. And there have been 105 deaths as of Wednesday, one more than on Tuesday.

In Washington County, the Joint Information Center reports 551 cases COVID-19, and 17 deaths from the coronavirus.

The Frederick County Health Department says it won’t be reporting the number of patients released from isolation for several days. It says this data is not currently available during the transition to the state’s contact tracing system.
