Police Search For Man Who Fired Handgun

He fired one shot; no one was hurt.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police are continuing their search for a suspect who fired a handgun in the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive on Wednesday afternoon. .

Just before 5:00 PM, authorities say they received a report in that area of someone discharging a firearm. Officers were dispatched, and were told by several residents they saw Terence Tyrelle Kerns, Jr. 30, of Frederick, fire one shot from a handgun at another individual, and flee. The victim was not hurt.

An officer recovered a single cartridge in the area where the shot was fired.

Police received information that Kerns was inside an apartment in the 800 block of Heather Ridge Drive, and the area was closed off.

They searched a particular apartment, but didn’t find Kerns. He was not located in the area, and authorities reopened Heather Ridge Drive just before 8:30 PM..

Police say an arrest warrant has been obtained, charging Kerns with weapons offenses. He also has an arrest warrant for violation of probation which was issued on May 29th, 2020.
