Maryland State Police Helicopter Based In Frederick Rescues Person From Liberty Dam


The victim was seen face down at the base of the dam.


Frederick, Md. (KM) – The Maryland State Police helicopter based in Frederick on Tuesday rescued a person from Liberty Dam in Carroll County.

Authorities say the chopper hoisted the victim who was seen floating in the water face down at the base of the dam…which is 415 feet high and surround by steep terrain. Fire and rescue crews arriving on the scene provided emergency medical care.. The helicopter positioned itself 160-feet above the rescue crews.

A trooper and rescue technician was lowered down to assist with providing emergency care. The patient was placed in a rescue litter and hauled up to the helicopter and flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
