Hot Weather Expected To Continue Tuesday In Frederick County

Residents are urged to take precautions.

Frederick, Md (KM) It’s going to be another scorcher on Tuesday in Frederick County as the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures  reaching 94-degrees. Dennis Dudley, the Director of Emergency Preparedness for Frederick County, says these extreme conditions can cause heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat cramps. “So it comes to your body temperatures rising  above what’ normal, and you’re sweating out your nutrients, which causes injury to your body,” he says

Dudley says it’s best to stay in an air conditioned building during the day, and drink plenty of water ,but don’t forget about eating.r. “If you’re drink a lot of water and you’re not replacing those nutrients that you’re sweating, you lead yourself to a heat injury by draining your electrolights,”he says. “So it’s very important that you take regular breaks; you eat normally; you don’t eat heavy meals.”

And always check in on your elderly family members and friends to make sure they are coping with the heat.

If you have to outside working in the hot weather, Dudley says you need to take extra precautions when dealing with the heat. “:Wear light weight clothing and light colored clothing because the light color reflect away some of the sun’s heat away from you,”: he says. “And use a covering. Sometimes people use umbrellas, but I’d recommend a hat that protects you. Use the proper  sunblock so you don’t get sunburn.”

For those doing chores outside should do them in the morning or late afternoons when it;’s jot as hot

He says if someone is having a heat emergency, call 911 immediately. “Calling 911 is the most important thing,” says Dudley. :”The 911 operator can talk you through  what you need to do depending on what type of heat injury that person is suffering.”
