Boy Shot While Playing Basketball At Memorial Park In Middletown

He’s currently in stable condition.

Middletown, Md (KM) A seven-year-old boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Monday afternoon after he was shot in the leg. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says the boy was playing basketball at Memorial Park on South Church Street in Middletown when he was wounded. He remains in stable condition.

After interviewing witnesses, detectives say they do not believe the gun was fired in the immediate area of the park, and the shot may have come from farther away. Some witnesses described hearing gunshots in the distance which they think may have been target shooting.

Also, the Sheriff’s Office says investigators were given a description of a person who was walking in the area at that time, That person was contacted, but detectives say that individual was not  involved in the shooting.

The investigation into this incident is continuing, and anyone who has information is asked to contact Detective Moore with the Sheriff’s Office at 301-600-3608. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call the Tip Line at 301-600-4131.

Authorities say   anyone who has information about any potential target shooting in the area is also asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
