COVID-19 Cases Increasing In Frederick County

Health Dept. says they’re getting closer to 3,000.                                                                 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department says the county has been experiencing an increase in people testing positive for the COVID-19 virus, including more young people. .

As of Tuesday afternoon, there are 2,931 confirmed coronavirus cases, an increase of 22 from the day before. The number of deaths still remains at 113.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.7% percent. That’s the percentage of people who tested positive for COVID-19 out of all of the people tested over a seven-day period.

The Health Department says even though young people may not need hospitalization after contracting the coronavirus, they can spread it to people who are at greater risk. Health officials urged young people to wear a mask in public, practice social distancing and wash their hands frequently.

In Washington County, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached  903 as of Tuesday. That’s 22 more than on Monday. The number of deaths still stands at 30. And the number of patients released from isolation is  689.

Statewide, the Maryland Department of Health is reporting 85,524 cases of the coronavirus as of Tuesday, which is 648 more than the day before. The numbers of deaths from COVID-19  is 3,327, and that’s 12 more than on Monday.

However, the positivity rate is 4.45%, which is the percentage of people across Maryland who tested positive for COVID-19 out of all of those tested over a seven-day period.
