New COVID-19 Testing Site To Open In Frederick County

It will be along the Golden Mile.

Frederick, Md (KM) Citizens who want to get tested for the coronavirus will have another location in Frederick County. Health Officer Dr. Barbara Brookmyer says a new clinic will be located along the Golden Mile behind Masters Pharmacy at the Rockledge Plaza on Route 40 at Hillcrest Drive.

“A two-story shopping center. And you access it through the parking on the south side or in the back, furtherest away from Route 40,” she says.

Route 40 is also known as West Patrick Street.

The new clinic is scheduled to open on August 8th. “However, for the community we’ll be operating what’s referred to as a soft launch to be able to figure out what are the best times to be open there,” says Dr. Brookmyer.

Just like the other COVID-19 testing clinics in Frederick County, Dr. Brookmyer says  the testing is free and patients do not need a note from the doctor. Also, they do\n’t  need to display any symptoms of the coronavirus.

Similar to the other clinics, Dr. Brookmyer says the clinic will offer diagnostic testing, not the antibody test. “The way that we preform the testing–or collect the specimen which is more accurate–we use that nasal-Pharyngeal swab. So it’s the swab that goes into the nose and all the way back to the throat,” she says.
