They say don’t walk or drive through standing water.
Frederick, Md (KM) The City of Frederick and the County says they’re taking the necessary steps in anticipation of the storm which could impact the area. As of Monday day, there was a Flash Flood Watch in effect for the region.
Both governments are asking citizens to secure any outside items such as chairs and tables; clear leaves and debris from storm drain intakes near homes and businesses; and check drain intake areas to make sure they’re clear.
As the rain pours, residents are strongly urged not to walk through floodwaters. Just six-inches of water can be fast moving and knock you down. It could also be electrically charged from underground or down power lines, and could have dangerous debris.
Officials also say keep children and pets out of the water, and watch out for nay debris or down power lines on your property. Trim and remove any damaged trees and limbs.
And remember to keep generators and alternate power sources outside at least 20-feet away from windows and doors and protected from moisture.
