Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Board of Education made some adjustments to the 2020-2021 academic calendar. During their meeting Wednesday, Board members voted to require students take part in virtual instruction on Fair Day, Friday, September 25th, and Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd. Both days would normally be holidays.

The Great Frederick Fair was canceled for 2020 to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Also, the Board moved the second term end date from Thursday, January 28th to Tuesday, January 26th. A teacher work day scheduled for Friday, January 29th has been moved to Wednesday, January 27th.

The calendar for the 2021 to 2022 academic year was adopted. The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, and the final day of classes will be Wednesday, June 1st, 2022..

But the School Board rejected the 2022-2023 academic calendar with the first day of classes scheduled for Wednesday, August 10th. Instead, it asked the School System staff to daft a calendar for that year with the first day of classes occurring  during the week of August 15th 2022.

The first day of classes for 2020-2021 will be Monday, August 31st, but all learning will be virtual through the fall semester.
